In 1920, eleven football teams across the United States came together to form a football association in an effort to streamline the game, the rules and further the sport as a great American pastime. This was the precursor to What we know today as the National Football League, or more commonly, the NFL. The original name of the association was the American Professional Football Association, which later was changed to the American Football League in 1921 and finally to the NFL in 1922.

There are two divisions of the National Football League, the AFC (American Football Conference) and the NFC (National Football Conference). Each conference has four divisions with 4 teams in each division. The primary objective of the NFL is to promote the game, set the regular season schedule of competitors and to host a playoff game, the world championship, known as the Super Bowl.

The National Football League sets a seventeen-week schedule in which each team will play 16 games, with one week off. The regular football season begins in September, the Thursday immediately following Labor Day, and generally concludes at the end of December or first week of January. When the regular schedule is completed, the top 6 teams from each conference will face off in the playoff tournaments to determine the top two teams. The top two teams from the playoffs that will then face off in the Super Bowl.

In addition to the schedules and the administration of professional football, the National Football League also promotes and owns all rights to the Super Bowl, including picking the host stadium for the annual event. That task is accomplished through a bidding process in which a host city will make a proposal to the National Football League for the Super Bowl to be held in their city.

The National Football League has strict requirements for Host cities, one of which is the seating capacity of the stadium. This is the reason many cities have built or rebuilt their stadiums in recent years. Another important requirement is the impact a super bowl might have on the local infrastructure. One such case was the Super Bowl XXXIX held at the new Jacksonville Stadium in 2005. The unprecedented amount of people using the public restrooms resulted in difficulties with the local wastewater treatment plant to accommodate the unexpected rise in facilities.

Although occassionally such problems may arise, the National Football League has been the driving force behind making football a great American pastime in the same respect as America’s other favorite sport of Baseball.

In the fantasy sports world, fantasy baseball clinches a unique position. Stats of the real-world players are used as a basis for the game. As the name itself suggests, fantasy baseball players manage make-believe teams where they rely on the actual players performance to carry on with their game. Since baseball is the national sport of the USA, it is not surprising that lots of its residents too pay special attention to its fantasy version.

Winning a championship is the main objective of a fantasy sport. This is right as regards fantasy baseball as well. The best way to go about playing it is to get prepared well in advance of the beginning of the season by making yourself familiar with all the information about baseball players and their statistics. Joining a public league or setting one up, you can go ahead with having fun. Thereafter, according to your liking, you may make a draft which is live or automatic. Live draft is beneficial to you since it provides you with the option of choosing whomsoever you wish to select.

Next you are faced with ranking your players. Even though initially it is set to a default, you have the freedom of making changes to it based on your thinking on the players standing with the help of his stats. Though previous years rankings are normally used to do this, you can fall back on two year and three year trends as well as projected stats for the next season. As it is viewed that rankings are a reflection of your assessment of how vital a player is to you in fantasy baseball, meticulous attention is to be paid in figuring out the rankings.

It is absolutely essential that you should keep in mind that fantasy baseball involves a lot of analysis, thinking and strategy. Also it involves stats. Hence, an admixture of these qualities with some chance will stand you in good stead in forming the best team for your fantasy baseball game. But take care in heeding to the recommendations of the professionals on rankings as they sometimes put a little too much into their advice. So, use your common sense in arriving at a final decision on the formation of your team.

Fantasy baseball is entertaining whilst being competitive. Therefore, make sure that you draft wisely in order to post wins.

In the year 1955, Dixie Youth Baseball was started in South Carolina. Having broken away from Little League organization of Pennsylvania, all-white teams, numbering sixty-one, conducted their own tournament. The very idea of forming up an organization for pre-teens to play baseball was thus put into action and Little Boys Baseball, Inc was formed. In 1962, it was renamed Dixie Youth Baseball, Inc..

Initially, 12 leagues and 537 teams were associated with the formation of this sporting body. However, Over time, it has become the second largest youth baseball programme for pre-teens under the age of 12 years. Although initially it was an exclusive tournament they have abandoned their discriminations now and entertain participants irrespective of their color, race or ethnicity. Michael Jordan, Reggie Sanders and Bo Jackson were some of the prominent players who had taken part in the programme.

Today, Dixie Youth Baseball boasts of hundreds of leagues in eleven Southern states. The extraordinary growth of Dixie Youth Baseball leagues can be put down to the fact that Dixie Youth Baseball really cares for the welfare of the youngsters. It believes that a properly supervised baseball programme is instrumental in preparing a child for future challenges in life.
Dixie Youth Baseball is regulated by a National Board of Directors elected by the leagues affiliated to it. Diagonally opposed to similar organizations, the staff at Dixie Youth Baseball do not receive any compensation for their work. They are all volunteers familiar with the necessities of the children.

Dixie Youth Baseball has some basic rules. A maximum of15 players with a maximum of 8 twelve year old children are allowed. Four, five or six teams make up leagues. A maximum of 25 and a minimum of 15 games per season are permitted to be played by the affiliated leagues. Those who complete their 13th birthday on or after August 1 are eligible to take part. .

Sponsoring of scholarships for education for their former players is an outstanding characteristic of the Dixie Youth Baseball. Highly recommended seniors who are former players are required to furnish evidence for the scholarships. Excess funds from membership fees and other revenue are utilized to support this venture.

George Halas organized the Chicago Bear’s football team in 1919 as an independent football club. In 1920, the Chicago Bears joined the National Football League (NFL), making their home in Chicago, Illinois. In 1970, They became part of the National Football Conference (NFC) central division, until 2002, when they joined the northern division.

Since 1983, Virginia Halas McCaskey is listed as the owner of the Chicago Bears, although the Halas family has had a vested interest in the Bears since their beginning in the 1920′s. Micheal McCaskey is the Chariman and Jerry Angelo is the current General Manager, while Lovie Smith is Head Coach.

Before the advent of the annual World Championship of Football (now known as the Super Bowl), the Chicago Bears had an impressive showing at Championship games, winning 8 times between 1921 and 1963. The Bears have appeared in two Super Bowls (1985 and 2006) and have won once in 1985. However, the team is consistent in making it into playoff spots having had 24 appearances in playoff games since 1933.

Until 1970, the Chicago Bears called Wrigley Field their home stadium when a new football stadium was built for them, called Soldier Field. This was their home field until a new Soldier Field was finished in 2003, (except for the 2002 season when they played at Memorial Stadium).

The Chicago Bears are no stranger to the Football Hall of fame, as more than 30 of their players have been inducted as honorees, including former coach and tight end Mike Ditka. Two of the most famous inductees are Dick Butkus (Linebacker) and Walter Payton (Running Back)~Some of the more well-known inductees are linebacker Dick Butkus and running back Walter Payton}.

The Chicago Bears gained national fame through the parodies performed by the Saturday Night Live television series in the 1980s, commonly repeating ‘Da Bears’ in their skits. The parodies were mostly centered on the inability of the Bear’s to win a championship. Even though they had remarkably had great seasons their shot at a Super Bowl trophy was not realized until the Super Bowl XX, where the Chicago Bears soundly defeated the New England Patriots in a bone-crushing win of 46 over 10.

Probably one of the most memorable ‘characters’ of the Chicago Bears was Defensive Tackle William “Refrigerator” Perry, also known as the ‘Fridge’. This 320-pound ‘spectacle’ enlivened the fans when he barreled through the line as a blocker or carrying the ball. His large frame did well to support Payton as a blocker during the regular season.

In their appearance at Super Bowl XLI, the Chicago Bears were the underdog to the Indianapolis Colts by 6 1/2 points. The final score was 29-17, Colts. This was the rainiest Super Bowl in History and although the Chicago Bears put forward their best game, they just could not pull it off, despite having a great regular season and strong showing in the Super Bowl.

Baseball being the favorite pastime of the Americans, everything even so remotely connected with the game is of interest to its avid fans. Statistics play a major role in baseball games. This fact is confirmed by its history. It is worth your while to delve into the reasons behind the popularity of keeping baseball scores.

The story begins in 1800s, the humble beginnings of the sport. It is a tradition that has been preserved to-date. It will keep you busy all through the game and make you feel at one with the game. Further, keeping a record of baseball scores of every game you attend and preserving each score card will come in useful to you in the years to come. Moreover, it is fun and interesting.

There is an authorized scorer but a lot of enthusiasts engage in scoring for fun. The official scorer make a detailed scoring job whilst the fans are not particular about the smallest details. Baseball scores are done using some abbreviations but there is no set rules about it. A lot of symbols, numbers and letters are utilized for this purpose. Modifications could be done to the formats and score sheets, but the most important thing is to maintain the accuracy of baseball scores so kept.

Internet is a source of every requirement in baseball scorekeeping. It has online step by step tutorials as well as downloadable instructions to initiate the novice. For official scorers, score books are available online for purchase. For amateurs too, there are sites which offer free downloadable score cards for baseball scores. You may find it challenging to learn the short forms and jargon employed in baseball scoring.

Normally, 2 score cards are utilized for a game, one for the visiting team and another for the home team. On these score sheets, you will find columns allocated for player information, game information, and game totals. All runs, hits, steals and outs including pitches are recordable on these score sheets. Anyway, baseball scoring is rapidly losing its glamour due to the introduction of sophisticated electronic scoreboards at pro games. In spite of all these, you might note someone recording baseball scores in the venues.

It is a fact that since 1845 the official baseball rules have kept changing with each passing year. In fact, the changes, over the years, have been very few and far between, thus making the baseball rules seem static, which in turn has made it appealing to fans who are keen on following the evolution of the game. Therefore, this game boasts of a very proud history in comparison to other sports.

Baseball is the National Game of the USA. Over the years, it has spread far and wide and gained recognition as an international game played in well over 100 countries in the world. The observance of the baseball rules not only by players but by managers, umpires, administrative officers and coaches alike will help maintain a healthy and steady growth of the popularity of this interesting team game.

Two teams of 9 players each play baseball in a baseball field which has 4 bases. The team that notches up greater runs than its rival is declared winner. A batter hits the ball and runs from base to base, touching them. A player is deemed to have scored a run lawfully when he finishes his running through the 4 bases without being ‘out’. There are 9 innings in a standard baseball game, with each innings having 6 outs; Three for each team. But it may not be unusual to see fewer innings played by some leagues.According to the baseball rules, at least one official, called umpire, should officiate at a baseball game. Normally 4 umpires officiate at prominent league matches, but depending on the importance and the league participating, this may vary up to 6 umpires.

All professional play in the USA and Canada are governed by the official baseball rules. These rules can be found both in book form and on the internet too. Mastering the baseball rules is not as difficult as it appears. But, the beauty of the game lies in analysing and predicting the possible game plan and strategy of the opponent judging by their moves and activity.

Initially, baseball rules could be divided into 4 parts. They are: the playing field, pitching and hitting, outs and structure of the baseball game. Getting yourself familiar with the above-mentioned basic baseball rules will not pose you a problem if you put your heart and soul into it.

As all baseball players and fans know, the sport they love is on its way to becoming a truly global sport like football, golf or cricket. With its growing popularity comes increased demand for baseball players with skill and flair to play the game and entertain the growing audience throughout the world. This leaves us with the question of how to nurture promising baseball players so that they are able to achieve greatness.

A head start is extremely useful to baseball players, like other professional sportsmen and women. To ensure that they gain a competitive advantage, players should ideally start training while in middle school. An early start to training and a regular programme of exercise seasons their playing and gives them the benefit of additional practice over about two years. In addition to giving young baseball players extra time to fine-tune their swings and pitching, the extra time help develop strength and stamina.

Young players can make the most of other players experience by observing their games. Sometimes just listening and watching can be a great way of learning the dos and donts of the sport. Its important to keep an open mind at this stage, because its easy to assume that theres nothing left to learn once the basics are mastered and a few games completed with success.

Getting a good coach early on helps as well, by preventing the formation of bad habits, and ensuring that good ones are built in from the beginning. Its more difficult for baseball players who have formed a habit over years of play to correct it, than it is for them to change if its been caught early.

Despite the fact that a coach can have a wide range of talents, one who is a great pitcher, may not necessarily be the best hitter. Baseball players should aim to get the best out of the coachs area of expertise and always listen when another coach offers advice. It may be that one coachs style may suit the player in one area and not in another. The combination of their natural instincts and talent with advice from coaches and their observations of other players is what makes great baseball players successful.

The United States of Americas National Baseball Hall of Fame is a collaboration of souvenirs and information with regard to professionals in various areas who have had an impact on the game over the years gone by. This is a sanctuary for baseball fans to delve into the history of the game and understand its evolution over the decades gone by.

The Baseball Hall of Fame is set up in the form of a museum at 25, Main Street, Cooperstown, New York. This museum consisting of three floors provides the devoted baseball fan as well as the tourist who knows nothing about baseball both perspective and knowledge on the history of the game, its flag bearers and highlights. The hall also gives detailed perspective into the beginnings of the game and how it developed into a national sport. The availability of learning material, tours and movies empowers enthusiastic fans, children and tourists alike to learn all they can about baseball.

Players, officials, museum employees and fans participate in various events organized by the museum. These events provide the opportunity for fans to meet players and to hear their stories on and off the field first hand.

The Baseball Hall of Fame was dedicated by Lee Ferrick Andrews in 1939. During the great depression this was seen as a valuable business opportunity to attract more tourists in to Cooperstown. The museum drew interest both from within the state as well as throughout the entire nation. Global travelers were drawn to Cooperstown to witness the Baseball Hall of Fame for themselves. The museum is now graced by approximately 350,000 visitors every year and boasts an artifact base of over 35,000 and over 2.6 million library items.

The Baseball Writers Association of America or the Veterans Committee elect players to the hall of fame. The rules for election of players into the hall have changed in order to accommodate the changing dynamics of the game over a period of time. Players who make it to the hall of fame have the opportunity of having their names written in the annals of history, where their feats and contributions to the game will be remembered for all of time.

Baseball has been an essential part of American lives over the years gone by. Admirers of the game and those who are inquisitive about baseball alike will find asylum within the mighty walls of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
